SWFL

SUMMER TRAVEL TEAM 2012

The goal for Southwest Florida Baseball is to assist young men in enhancing their baseball talents by providing them with a first class baseball experience.  We provide a high school age Summer Baseball League, a high school age Fall Wood Bat Baseball League and Summer and Fall Travel Showcase teams.

With respect to our Summer Travel Teams, we invite talented prospects from our area who are judged to be able to play at a highly competitive level against other very talented teams.  We augment this Team with a limited number of players from outside our immediate area to allow our Team to play at an advanced level.  This affords all our players an opportunity to  enhance and develop their talents in order to successfully progress to the next level of college or professional baseball.

We won the 2000 USSSA World Series and came in second in the 2002 Travel International Baseball World Series.  In the fall of 2002 we won the International Baseball Battle of the Best. In 2003 we won the IBT World Series Championship. In 2003 we also won the USSSA State Championship. In 2004, we won the Team One Invitational Championship, USSSA State Championship and 2004 Pendleton World Series Championship. In 2005 State AAU Championship we came in 2nd place. In the 2005 AAU National Championships we came in 3rd place.

In 2006, we were AAU State Champions, Perfect Game Regional Champions, IBC Champions. Our overall record in was 2006 39-9, which was our most successful summer season.

In 2007, we were Perfect Game Regional Champions.

We have a fine coaching staff that includes a former pro player, and men who have been involved in baseball for most of their lives. We are dedicated to seeing young players improve their baseball skills, earn college scholarships and assist them into becoming young men that will one day be successful citizens.  Most of our former players have gone on to play college baseball and into the professional arena.

6 former SWFL players were drafted and signed by Major League teams in 2011. Hudson Boyd – Twins – 1st sup, Daniel Vogelbach – Cubs – 2nd, Audrey Santana – Dodgers – 2nd,  Gus Schlosser – Atlanta – 18th, John Gant – NY Mets – 21st and Jon Griffen – Arizona – 22nd  were all drafted and signed Minor League contracts. Jake Lane was the lone draftee – Arizona – 45th that chose to attend school – U. Miami. We wish all of our graduates the very best in their baseball careers whether they chose the professional route or to go and further their educational/athletic career in college.

As you can see, the Southwest Florida Baseball program is meeting their stated mission to assist young men to further their baseball careers and help them grow into solid student athletes. We thank you for your interest in Southwest Florida Baseball and look forward to seeing you at the park.

Looking forward to continued success through the 2012 summer season.
